I don't live in the south anymore and these days the only cowboys I know wrangle animals for tv and film, but I love me a cowboy. This would make some who know me laugh since my husband, a lover of Eminem, poetry and fast cars is the farthest thing from that, but it's the image that I love. The mere idea. I'm convinced that movie stamped an impression on my four year old psyche that never left because I have the biggest weak spot for wranglers and a cowboy hats. Travolta was not tough and he danced a little too feminine for me... but the buckle, those boots and that black hat... oh yeah.
I was watching the latest video from Kings of Leon (shocking, I know) and Garrett Hedlund plays a cowboy who tragically kills his brother by accident during a fist fight over a woman. Powerful and clearly influenced by Urban Cowdoy, but what struck me was how I suddenly lusted after the actor who I've never really had an opinion on either way in his prison stripes and shackles as he struts out to the bull pen. What the...? Yep... I'm hopeless. But I remembered that password question.
Now, there are thousands, probably millions of woman out there who are strictly cowboy. They listen to country music, hang out in western bars, read cowboy romance novels and probably have a shitkicker of their own waiting at home. To you... I salute. You know what you like and you live it. Today I'm speaking more to the ladies who may not have ever even known a real cowboy or listened to country music. Maybe you've never even been to the American Midwest. Never seen a rodeo or been around a mechanical bull.... and yet when you see the slim fitting snap button shirts and the boot stride with a little bow in their stance you glance a little longer. Who's with me? Do you share the allure of the ranchers, cattlemen and bull riders with their tights jeans and slim physique? If so, I recommend checking out the video (I bet you'll watch more than once) and give me a shout out! I want to hear what cowboys do to you.
