So I'm shifting focus back to Seattle again... but those peeps know something about being sexy and liberated. Like most of the Northwest, Seattle has a very open-mind when it comes to sex and sexuality. There is even an annual Erotic Art Festival that draws thousands of excited guests each year. The festival, this year scheduled May 30th-June 1st, showcases fine art as well as photography, film, literary arts and interactive mediums (check out the Body Painting event). From photographs that inspire triple-takes (like the 2012 Panty Portraits series) and videos not for the faint-of-heart, to a jaunty drag/burlesque/vaudeville production, there's truly something for everyone. Well, maybe not everyone... Apparently in 2007, just four years after it's beginning, more than a dozen print shops refused to print the 1,000 program catalogs for the art show opening. At that point the festival had already attracted an average of 3,000 attendees and these days it's much larger. Luckily they got the print kinks worked out (there's gotta be a pun there somewhere). So check it out and plan to trek up for a little kinky fun and appreciation.
If you are an artist they are still accepting submissions until February 28th for visual and literary categories and March 31st for film or performance art.
