So, to help you avoid the Grinch within, I've put together a go-to list of holiday romances for 2014 worth your time and heart.
Since not all books are for all readers, I've include a little of everything for a range of tastes. I would also love to hear your suggestions of other new & noteworthy books for fellow readers... so 'Tis The Season to Share, Share, Share in the comments below.
I'm not usually hot for the outrageously rich men of the Billionaire romance genre, but J.S. Scott actually makes her hero Grady Sinclair a modern day Mr. Darcy who is socially awkward and misunderstood. When the heroine Emily Ashworth literally comes knocking on his door in her effort to save a local youth center, their meet-cute turns into a challenge she can't resist. Together they find their forgotten reasons to love and be loved at Christmas.
If the premise of this book sounds like A Maine Christmas...Or Two: A Duet (The Billionaire's Angel & A Mermaid Isle Christmas) it's because this is the same book with editorial changes. I'm assuming the biggest one was changing the original horrible title. This package is much nicer.
If you're into a hot quickie that includes M/F/M playtime... this is the steaming hot novella for your naughty list. These two authors bring their heroes Jax and Zach together for a romp with Stormy that's sure to please in one very HOT night that will leave you begging for more. These ladies know how to mingle their characters into a concoction of coal-worthy pleasure that is for mature readers only.
Evans is one of the few established male authors who's known for his touching Christmas stories thanks to his first book The Christmas Box. He's a very talented writer able to write romance without vulgarity or explicit details. I would dare say this is a good Christian novel, but that might take it a stretch too far. However, the theme of forgiveness is so strong in this book that it's bound to strike a cord with those who look for a wholesome, meaningful romance. This story of two people who have been so deeply hurt takes an emotional journey that many Christmas books don't dare to step in. It's this reason alone that you can't put this quick read down. This book will have you crying and then smiling in no time as Elise Dutton and Nicholas Derr reveal their secrets and great chemistry on the way to true love.
The infamous Christmas Box Set. Like a wonderful box of chocolates, each with a different surprise inside, this is the time of year for the box set. It's a great way to sample new author's writing styles and get your holiday sweetness fix at the same time. For those who love paranormal tales of Werewolves, Shifters, Vampires, Elves, Witches, Dragons, Fey, Ghosts and more... this is the set for you. It doesn't matter what world you come from, during the winter, all creatures are in search of love and warmth in tales of naughty and nice.
Gotta love stories of a male best friend who's been on the receiving end of unrequited love and a twist of virginity in there as well. Watching Derrick try to win over his best friend Mia, with whom he's been secretly in love with for eight years brings an innocence to this YA novel that could tug at anyone's heart. Just before he's about to confess his love to her she asks him to take the one sacred thing she was holding on to, her virginity. This isn't how it was supposed to go for poor Derrick so he makes a deal with her to date for three months hoping he'll have enough time to make her believe in love. For anyone who likes the misunderstandings of a meant-to-be couple or the best-friends-to-lovers trope, this is a great pick.
Lady Patrina Tidemore gave up on the ridiculous notion of true love after having her heart shattered and her trust destroyed by a black-hearted cad. Used as a pawn in a game of revenge against her brother, Patrina returns to London from a failed elopement with a tattered reputation and little hope for a respectable match. The only peace she finds is in her solitude on the cold winter days at Hyde Park. And even that is yanked from her by two little hellions who just happen to have a devastatingly handsome, but coldly aloof father, the Marquess of Beaufort. Something about the lord stirs the dreams she’d once carried for an honorable gentleman’s love. Weston Aldridge, the 4th Marquess of Beaufort was deceived and betrayed by his late wife. In her faithlessness, he’s come to view women as self-serving, indulgent creatures. Except, after a series of chance encounters with Patrina, he comes to appreciate how uniquely different she is than all women he’s ever known.
I had to. I mean, come on... you're reading my blog. December Rain is the 2nd book in the emotional August Fog Trilogy and focuses on Monica Waters as she attempts to navigate between the two men she loves. Her worlds start to separate as the holidays approach and all she wants to do is run away. Luckily that's exactly the prescription Quinn Matthews has in mind too. He plans to show her just how meant to be their love really is and guide her into his arms forever.
This can be a frustrating book since Monica is a mess and makes a lot of bad choices... but through it all you'll root for her to get a Happy New Year. You'll want her to choose the right path. And above all, you'll get a little bit of everything in a full novel that's not just about the holidays. Fair warning, this book contains mature language and sexual content that will melt your candy canes and singe the tinsel... so unwrap with caution. ;)
There is also one more thing this holiday book has that the others don't a Hot Hot New Year's Eve Party that springs to mind a theme for your own holiday plans this year. Read more about the Naught New Year's Eve and the real life inspiration that sparked the idea.
